Pediatric Cleanings
At EZ Dental Group, we believe a healthy smile starts early. Our pediatric dental cleanings are designed to keep your child’s teeth strong, bright, and cavity-free from the very beginning. We provide a welcoming, kid-friendly environment that helps children feel safe, comfortable, and even excited about their dental visits.
Why Pediatric Cleanings Matter
Regular cleanings are an essential part of your child’s oral health. Even baby teeth need professional care to prevent cavities, monitor development, and build good hygiene habits for life. Pediatric cleanings allow us to:
- Gently remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Check for early signs of tooth decay or gum issues
- Offer tips for better brushing and flossing at home
- Apply fluoride for added cavity protection (when needed)
- bMake dental visits fun, educational, and fear-free
We recommend that children begin dental cleanings as soon as their first tooth appears, and continue every six months to maintain optimal oral health.
What to Expect During Your Child’s Visit
We tailor each cleaning to your child’s age, comfort level, and dental needs. Our caring dental hygienists are specially trained to work with children and know how to keep appointments light-hearted and stress-free.
A typical pediatric cleaning visit includes:
- A gentle cleaning and polishing of the teeth
- A thorough but gentle dental exam
- Digital X-rays (only if necessary)
- A fluoride treatment to strengthen enamel
- Plenty of positive reinforcement and high-fives!
Parents are always welcome in the exam room, and we’re happy to answer any questions about your child’s dental development, diet, and at-home care.
Creating Healthy Habits That Last
We don’t just clean teeth—we help kids build a lifetime of healthy habits. By making early visits positive and educational, we aim to reduce dental anxiety and set the foundation for a lifetime of confident, cavity-free smiles.

Pulp Therapies
At EZ Dental, we offer pediatric root canals to treat infected or severely decayed baby teeth while keeping your child comfortable and calm. This simple procedure can relieve pain, stop infection, and preserve the tooth until it naturally falls out.
What Is a Pediatric Root Canal?
A pediatric root canal (pulpotomy or pulpectomy) involves removing damaged pulp tissue inside the tooth, cleaning the area, and sealing it to prevent further issues. We often place a crown afterward to protect the tooth.
Signs Your Child May Need a Root Canal:
- Ongoing toothache or sensitivity
- Swollen or tender gums
- Darkened or damaged tooth
- Pain when chewing
We always confirm with an exam and x-rays before recommending treatment.
What to Expect
- Local numbing for a pain-free visit
- Quick, gentle treatment
- Durable, child-safe filling and crown
- Easy recovery and return to normal activities
Caring, Kid-Friendly Dentistry
We know “root canal” sounds intimidating, but for children, it’s often a quick and highly effective way to prevent tooth loss. Our experienced team focuses on comfort and reassurance every step of the way.

Dental Sealants
Sealants protect the depressions and grooves of your teeth from accumulating food particles and plaque that brushing and flossing can't reach. Sealants are easy to apply, taking only a few minutes to complete for each tooth.
After cleaning the tooth, a tooth-colored composite "coating" is painted into the depressions and grooves of the tooth and hardened. This effectively seals the deep grooves acting as a barrier to protect the enamel from the plaque and acids that cause tooth decay (cavities).
Fluoride Treatments
What is fluoride?
Fluoride is a natural mineral that is found in water and many foods. Every day our teeth undergo acid attacks from bacteria, and the enamel, the outer layer of our teeth, is worn down. Fluoride helps to replenish the enamel.
Who benefits from fluoride?
Both children and adults can benefit from fluoride; however, the mineral is more crucial to those between the ages of 6 months and 16 years. This is because it is the time frame throughout which the primary and permanent teeth will grow in.
Fluoride can be extremely beneficial to those with certain conditions as well. For example, it can benefit those that suffer from any of the following:
-
Dry Mouth
-
Gum Disease
-
History of Frequent Cavities
-
Presence of Crowns, Bridges, and/or Braces
How else, aside from food and water, can I get fluoride?
If you wish to increase your daily fluoride intake, ask your dentist about fluoride treatments. Your dentist can complete in-office fluoride treatments which consist of applying fluoride directly to the teeth via a gel, foam, or varnish.

Children's Exams and X-Rays
Our team at EZ Dental, LLC and EZ Dental Group, LLC make dental exams and x-rays easy, gentle, and stress-free for kids. Regular checkups help us catch small issues early, track healthy development, and keep your child’s smile on the right track.
What’s Included in a Pediatric Dental Exam?
- Check for cavities, gum issues, and bite alignment
- Monitor baby teeth and incoming permanent teeth
- Personalized tips on brushing, flossing, and diet
- Time to answer any questions you have
We recommend exams every six months, starting by age one or when the first tooth appears.
Safe, Kid-Friendly Digital X-Rays
Dental x-rays help us spot hidden issues like cavities between teeth, problems under the gums, and jaw development. We use low-radiation digital x-rays and only take them when necessary.
A Comfortable, Positive Experience
Our friendly team uses a gentle approach and kid-friendly language to make visits calm and fun. Whether it’s their first checkup or a routine visit, we help children feel confident and cared for.

Pediatric Fillings
At EZ Dental, we understand that cavities can happen—even with great brushing and flossing. When they do, our pediatric dental fillings offer a quick, gentle solution to restore your child’s tooth and prevent further damage. We make the experience stress-free, using child-friendly techniques and a compassionate approach that keeps kids comfortable every step of the way.
Why Fillings Are Important
When left untreated, a cavity can lead to pain, infection, or damage to permanent teeth—even in baby teeth. Fillings help by:
- Removing decay and stopping it from spreading
- Restoring the tooth’s shape and function
- Preventing future discomfort or dental work
- Supporting healthy oral development
Early treatment helps protect your child’s long-term dental health and avoids more complex procedures later on.
What to Expect During a Pediatric Filling
We focus on making your child’s visit as relaxed and easy as possible. Our team is experienced in working with children and always takes the time to explain each step in a calm, reassuring way.
A typical filling visit includes:
- Numbing the area to ensure your child feels no pain
- Gently removing the decayed portion of the tooth
- Placing a tooth-colored (composite) filling material
- Shaping and polishing the filling for a natural look and feel
We offer tooth-colored fillings that blend in seamlessly and are safe, durable, and BPA-free.
Helping Kids Feel at Ease
We know the dentist can feel intimidating to little ones, so we go out of our way to create a positive experience. From a warm, welcoming environment to a caring, patient-focused team, everything we do is designed to help your child feel confident and cared for.

Athletic/Occlusal Guards
Custom-fitted mouth protectors are individually designed and made in or a professional laboratory based on your dentist's instructions.
Who Needs a Mouth Guard?
Mouth guards should be used by anyone -- both children and adults -- who play contact sports such as football, boxing, soccer, ice hockey, basketball, lacrosse, and field hockey.
However, even those participating in noncontact sports (for example, gymnastics) and any recreational activity (for example, skateboarding, mountain biking) that might pose a risk of injury to the mouth would benefit from wearing a protective mouth guard.
First, your dentist will make an impression of your teeth, and a mouth guard is then molded over the model using a special material; this provides the most comfort and protection.
Schedule an appointment for you custom-made mouthguard by calling (978) 685-5562 or (978) 521-2922 today!
